Fat Filter Bags (XT4) — 200 Count

These filter bags are used to test how much fat or oil is inside food and feed samples. They are made for use with ANKOM fat testing machines.

ทำไมถุงกรองถึงซีลปิดไม่สนิท? ฉันควรทำอย่างไร?

Why isn't my filter bag sealing properly? What can I do?

This might be why the bags are not sealing well: 

1) The dial on the heat sealer may not be turned up high enough. To seal XT4 Filter Bags, the dial must be set at "6." The setting may vary slightly from sealer to sealer. Test sealing to "dial in" the correct setting.

2) The heating element is broken. Loosen the two small screws that keep the Teflon cover in place and remove the cover. Check to see if there is a break in the heating element. If there is, replace the heating element with the spare in the box that the heat sealer came in. 

3) The insulator is not properly installed. The insulator should be installed to ensure that the heating element does not touch any of the metal on the base of the heat sealer.

I see a white substance floating on top of the sulfuric acid after a Kjeldahl digestion. Will this substance affect my results?

If you do the de-fat procedure using ANKOM XT4 filter bags, after you complete the Kjeldahl digestion, there will be a white substance on top of the resulting liquid. This substance is the PTFE coating on the XT4 filter bags. This substance will NOT impact your results. ANKOM no longer recommends defatting in XT4 bags. We recommend that you refer to official methods that describe the defatting process, such as AOAC 985.29.
